“Reflection” is a song written and produced by Matthew Wilder and David Zippel for the soundtrack of Disney’s 1998 animated film Mulan. Mulan is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, and was Disney's 36th animated feature. In the film, the song is performed by Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga as Fa Mulan. This song means that she is thinking about who she is. She tried to “fit in” to be someone else, she had a hard decision of excepting herself and being who she truly is inside. Mulan struggles with her inner desires and feelings versus how she portrays herself. She, like many women and men, doesn't know how people will react to who she really is and worries she will not be good enough. Then she is trying to make that decision and basing it on her reflection she can’t deny who she really is.
